Why Should I Test My Webcam?

Testing your webcam before a meeting or lecture is crucial to ensure it’s functioning properly and to check how you and your surroundings appear on the video feed.

How Is My Webcam Tested?

We test your webcam by using your browser to locate and connect to the webcam on your computer. The video feed will then be displayed on this page. Rest assured, we do not record any audio or video from your system.

Why Is My Webcam Not Working?

Here are some common reasons why your webcam might not be working:

1. You might not have clicked “Allow” when your browser requested permission to access your webcam.
2. Your webcam might not be connected to your computer. Check your cables to ensure a secure connection.
3. You may need to install webcam drivers. Visit your webcam manufacturer’s website to download the necessary drivers, or use driver updating software like DriverBooster to keep all your drivers up to date.
4. Your webcam might not be turned on. Look for an “ON” button on your camera.
5. Your webcam could be malfunctioning. Consider getting it repaired or purchasing a new one.
Ensure nothing is obstructing your webcam’s view.

How Do I Turn On My Webcam?

First, confirm that your webcam is plugged into your computer. Most webcams power on automatically when connected. If your webcam does not turn on, go to your computer’s Camera settings:
1. Click the “Start” button on your taskbar (or press the Windows Key).
2. Select “Settings” > “Privacy” > “Camera.”
3. Ensure “Let apps use my camera” is enabled.

How Do I Set Up My Webcam?

Most webcams set up automatically when plugged into your computer. If your webcam doesn’t set up automatically, you will need to download and install the appropriate drivers from your webcam manufacturer’s website. After installing the drivers, you should be able to view your webcam video on our test page.
Alternatively, you can use driver updating software to handle this automatically. We recommend DriverBooster, which we’ve found reliable for keeping drivers updated.
